HISTORY
Palafrugell is a once fortified medieval town. St. Martí's church was built in the late 11th century and is close to Plaça Nova. The town was reputed for its cork manufacturing in the 18th and 19th centuries.
It's most famous son is Josep Pla, you'll see many references to him around town. He wrote political and cultural chronicles in Catalan.
